Datum
On approach from seaward, Ashlett
Creek is marked by 3 Port channel marker buoys and 1 Starboard channel marker
buoy. 3 red posts mark the shingle bank and are in transit with No.6 buoy. No.7
Starboard buoy marks the 60 Deg turn to Starboard into the western reach of the
channel. Port & Starboard posts mark
the channel extremities. Port &
Starboard piles mark the speed limit & anchoring limit. A Port post & top mark marks the end of
the NFDC jetty & landing steps. A
large Port post marks the 120 Deg turn to Port.
There are Port marks on the end of the ASC pontoon & the end of the
ASC jetty. Slip is the last channel mark
before Victoria Quay, & also marks the entrance to ASC Quay. Port posts mark the junction of the main
channel with South Channel & the entrance to the ASC Pool mooring area.
GENERAL INFORMATION.
HW & LW times
are the same as Southampton. Calshot
reduction tables may be used to estimate the depth of water at any time using
the meteorological corrections shown (see ABP Southampton tide tables). The Creek dries out at LW springs (0.4M Above
Chart Datum). The main channel is steep
& narrow at the centre, but shelves more slowly above LW neap level (1.8M
ACD). Victoria Quay at the head of the
Creek dries at 2.1M ACD. There is a
public slipway to the North of the Quay, & mooring byelaws are posted on
the Quay. The lowest landing in the
Creek is at the concrete steps at the end of the NFDC (New Forest District Council) jetty; the
steps dry at 2.3M ACD. All moorings within
the Creek are private. Visitors should
anchor only below the Port & Starboard piles to avoid fouling ground
tackle. The bottom dries to soft mud
except where stated otherwise. Visitors
may land at the NFDC jetty steps or at Victoria Quay. Visitors from recognised Yacht Clubs are
welcome to use the ASC facilities.
Ashlett Club also welcomes visiting yachtsmen.
Note: - New Forest District Council jetty & landing steps, the
adjacent Port post, Victoria Quay, public slipway & adjacent moorings are all
administered by Fawley Parish Council.
